Hunger Explodes In Northern Illinois!
New data released today by Feeding America shows NIFB is serving 168% more people annually compared to just four years ago. The study, Hunger in America 2010, is the first national study to evaluate the hunger issue in the United States since the drastic downturn in the economy. The results also confirm what NIFB member agencies have been reporting about the increased numbers they are seeing in need of food assistance. Over the last year alone 35% more people are utilizing NIFB food pantries and soup kitchens. Click here to learn more about the findings.
 

The Eleventh Annual Donor Appreciation Dinner!

Don't miss the Eleventh Annual Donor Appreciation Dinner generously presented by the Grocery Merchandising Association (GMA) on March 20th at Bobak's Signature Events at Seven Bridges.  The Food Bank will be honoring four special partners for their work in the fight against hunger.  A special Inspiration Award will also be presented to former Bears star and WGN personality Glen Kozlowski! this black tie optional affair features a cocktail hour, silent auction, gourmet dinner, and live entertainment.  Thank you to our Platinum Sponsors, Abbott Fund, Dominick's, and Jewel-Osco.  Click here for information on the event!  

 

NIFB Was on NBC's The Biggest Loser March 2nd!

If you missed the Pound for Pound segment featuring NIFB and Jerry and Estella Hayes, our Pound for Pound Challenge Champions (Season 7 The Biggest Loser contestants) you can click here to see the piece! You'll learn more about how NIFB is helping to feed seniors through our Senior Meal Box program and watch Jerry and Estella volunteer their time to help. Feeding America is partnering with General Mills, Subway, 24 Hour Fitness, Walgreens, and The Biggest Loser to encourage Americans to lose weight through the Pound for Pound Challenge. NIFB needs your support to make our involvement a success! NIFB has fallen from 5th to 6th place for all Food Banks across the country in The Pound for Pound standings. We need your help!! Feed the Hungry While Doing Your Taxes!

There are many ways for you to help fight hunger in Illinois. No effort or donation is too small. Complete Schedule G and enter your donation on line i for hunger relief. Ninety-five percent of each donation goes to feeding programs. Every dollar donated will provide six meals to children, seniors and families in need.
